He has combined his two life-long loves, surgery and flying, by founding the Surgical Safety Institute, Inc. The Institute assists in their quest for improved patient safety and quality care.

LTC Strube is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Nurse Anesthesia, College of Health Professions at Rosalind Franklin University, and is a professional mentor for doctoral students. He is also an Associate Academic Faculty at University of Wisconsin, Oshkosh where he is the course director for the doctoral anesthesia pharmacology program. LTC Strube has been deployed four times during current military operations, which include service in both Iraq and Afghanistan.
